Fun Facts: A little Q&A Time

Hey friends!

So a few days ago, I posted on my Instagram that I would be doing a Q&A blog post! I get a ton of questions on my networks and email, so I thought it would be fun to just answer them all in one place!

Let’s get to it!

Q. Where did I go to college and what did I study?

A. Surprisingly, I didn’t go to cooking school! I started off at University of San Diego, transferred to FIDM San Francisco and finished up at Chapman University. I have my degrees in Merchandise Product Development, Business Finance & Economics.

Q. What’s my favorite music to listen to?

A. Honestly, I like everything EXCEPT reggae. Not my jam. Some of my all time favorite bands: AFI, Bayside, Something Corporate, NIN, Tool, In Flames, New Found Glory, Blink 182, NOFX, Mogwai, The Bled,  Van Morrison, Death Cab for Cutie, Britney Spears… No pattern whatsoever!

Q. Favorite Place I’ve ever traveled?

A. So tough… I loved Italy! I want to go back so badly!

Q. What do I like to do other than cook and bake?

A. So many things! Haha. I love to workout, spend time with my boyfriend and dog, watch movies, DIY it up, go to the beach, sleep, work on my businesses, explore new places…

Q. First Concert?

A. I grew up going to tons of concerts with my dad. I think one of the first ones I remember was The Butthole Surfers. I know I saw Sting and Metallica when I was super young though.

Q. Favorite Clothing Store?

A. Tough call, but I’m a Forever 21 Girl 4 Life. I also love RevolveWindsor & Tiger Mist!

Q. Advice on saving up for a vacation.

A. I think the best thing to do is create a savings accounts and have it automatically deposit money every month. I also recommend looking at your budget and seeing what you can cut out. Hold off on getting your nails done, buying clothes, fast food, etc. until you’ve saved up!

Q. Least favorite part of traveling?

A. Flying on shitty planes. I hate when i get stuck in a bad seat!

Q. Best luggage?

A. I love my marble luggage from Calpak

Q. Best health advice?

A. Drink lots of water and exercise! Even if it’s only 15 minutes, do some situps and pushups while you watch TV.

Q. Dream job when I was little?

A. I wanted to be a plastic surgeon. I have no idea why. Then I wanted to be a fashion designer.

Q. Do I want to open a bakery?

A. Honestly, I don’t want to have to wake up and bake things at 5 AM every day. If I could find someone else to run it I would!

Q. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life what would it be?

A. Easy. Tacos.

Q. Will Doug ever get a sibling?

A. Probably not. And if he did, it would be another animal!

Q. What breed is Doug?

A. He’s a Cavachon! Half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel / Half Bichon.

Q. One thing I can’t travel without?

A. Makeup remover wipes! They’re a life saver!

Q. Book recommendations?

A. I love Siddhartha. Also Freakanomics & Outliers are 2 faves.

Q. Tips for starting to workout and stay motivated.

A. Honestly I’m a huge fan of using Pinterest for workout ideas and routines. I think you can find some really awesome free tips and plans!

Q. What’s my exercise routine?

A. I go to Orange Theory 4 – 5 days a week! And stretch every day.

Q. How to start a business and what to do first.

A. Planning is key. I recommend googling “business plan” and reading up on the process of starting a business. I think creating a business plan and getting a game plan together first is the most important step.

Q. Is it easy being a blogger?

A. I get this question a lot. It’s actually a lot of work. A LOT! It’s not just “writing stuff and taking pics”. It’s a business and I treat it like one. I have a schedule I set, marketing plans, strategy meetings, etc. I spend about 4-5 hours a day on it!

Q. Why don’t you post vegan or vegetarian recipes?

A. The simple answer: I’m not vegan or vegetarian. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian bloggers to follow if that’s what you’re looking for. But I’m not! Most of my recipes can be adapted though!

Q. Why don’t you talk about your boyfriend?

A. I get this all the time. I don’t talk about my boyfriend and our life because it’s something I prefer to keep private. I like to keep some things off of the internet because they’re important and not something I necessarily think everyone needs to know all about. I also prefer to keep the subject matter focused on me, my business & blog!

Q. What camera do I use for my blog?

A. A lot of my content is shot by professional photographers. If not, I use my Sony A7!

Q. What do you use to edit your photos?

A. I use VSCO on my phone & Photoshop on my computer.

Q. What are your biggest fears?

A. I’m terrified of the ocean. I also have really bad anxiety – both personally and socially. Which makes things difficult sometimes!

Q. When are you going to start doing meet ups?

A. Honestly this makes me soo awkward and nervous. But if you ever think I should do one in a city, just comment on my Instagram!

Q. Any tips on eating healthier?

A. I’m actually working on a 7 day meal plan right now! Stay tuned!

Hey Erin! I’m just here to let you know that you’re one of my biggest inspirations. I want to travel when I grow up and make it my job, where I can incorporate something like photography or something else (if that makes sense). Not gonna lie, I found you through PTV but I never thought you would inspire me so much! 🙂 Love you lots!

I have always been curious about trying Orange Theory, what are your thoughts on it? I assume you like it. I think it would keep me motivated to workout but not sure if I could fit it in with my work schedule.

Also, I met you at a PTV concert before and I was honestly so nervous, you were so sweet and nice though! So even if you are nervous to do meetups I’m sure everyone else is just as nervous, if not more! I’d love to meet you again 🙂

I looked up class times for the one by my apartment. Right now I leave my house for work at 720 and don’t get home until 730 (I’m in accounting so this is our busy time) so I can’t make any of them now, but once I get back to a more normal schedule I might try to do a 630 or 7 am class before work when I can fit it in! I’m really curious to give it a try, I’ve never known anyone that does it so it’s good to hear good feedback on it! You said you go 4-5 times a week, do you think going twice a week would still be beneficial?
