Valentine’s Day can be kind of a buzz kill. Not everyone has a significant other. Not everyone gets to spend V-day with the one they love. Not all Valentinexpectations are always fulfilled. But you know what everyone does have… a squad. So whether you’ve got plans with your boo or are looking for something to keep yourself preoccupied, you should totally celebrate your favorite friends! This year, I’m all about Galentine’s Day. Because let’s be real, girls are the only ones who really care about the holiday anyways.
In the words of Leslie Knope… It’s wonderful and it should be a national holiday.
It’s that time of year… to stress out about money & gift giving! Anyone else struggle to figure out what to get people? Well, I have a great idea for you! S’mores Hot Cocoa Jars!
Not only are they super easy, tasty & affordable, they’re totally customizable!
All you need:
1 Cup of Powdered Sugar
1 Cup of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 Cup of Powdered Milk
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Graham Cracker Crumbs
It’s literally fool proof, you can make more or less depending on the size of your mason jar or how many you want to make! Mix the Powdered Sugar, Cocoa Powder, Powdered Milk & Salt. Then add a layer of Graham Crackers and Mini Marshmallows. Decorate with bows, cards or twine!
By now you’ve probably picked up on one of the biggest trends – the choker is back! They’re delicate, edgy & can add a little spice to even the simplest outfit. The choker shirt is one of my favorite new trends. It’s kind of like a combination between a turtleneck, halter top & necklace. Everyone from Gigi Hadid and the Jenners to your favorite fashion bloggers have been wearing them lately.
One of my favorite parts about Halloween is decorating. I just went ham at Home Goods, stocking up on as much skull and spider web inspired decor as I could. I like to consider myself a modern day Morticia Addams… who just got a pet unicorn that pooped glitter everywhere. If my house could be black and spooky all year round, I’d be in heaven. I think some strategically placed skulls and skeletons are totally acceptable year round.
A few months ago I tried making homemade marshmallows and it was a war zone. So messy. So annoying. They tasted like they were from a health food store or something (you know, not quite right). I called it a Pinterest fail and moved on. Can’t win em’ all. THEN… a friend of mine told me you can make marshmallows out of 3 ingredients. You know how I feel about 3 Ingredient Recipes… I’ll literally try any of them. Cheap, easy & 9/10 times super tasty. That’s right, you can put your DIY pants on and make your own Marshmallows with me!
I have a confession to make… I’m the queen of Disaster DIY’s. You know when you see something on Pinterest and think, that looks easy and awesome, I should try it? Yea, that’s me. The only difference between ME & Pinterest ME is that most of my crafts end up looking like I had one too many glasses of wine and fell asleep holding the glue gun.
Alright, so have you ever gone to throw a party and struggled to come up with a theme or ways to make it awesome? Let’s taco bout’ my favorite type of party…
I’ve got your answer to all party problems, throw a FIESTA! Everyone loves a fiesta themed party! Not to mention, Cinco de Mayo is coming up and you better bet your booty I’m prepping to throw a kick ass fiesta for my squad.

Step Two: Get Your Decorations Ready
Ok, so now you’re officially having a fiesta. You’ve gotta get festive decorations to get everyone loco.
Here are some shots of a 30th Birthday Fiesta I recently threw for my boyfriend. And it’s your lucky day because I saved all of the decorations to share with you from Amazon! You can click the pictures below to stock up for your own party! (Photo credit: Alysha Nett)
Step Three: The Music
Ok, one of the most important parts of an epic party is setting the mood with some jams.
And obviously, I’ve got you covered with a super epic Fiesta Mix! You can check my playlist out on Spotify!
Step Four: The Food
Obviously, the most important part of any party I throw. There are a lot routes you can go here: Tacos, Enchiladas, Snacks, Tamales, Margaritas, Horchata… the list is endless. But I recommend putting together a Nacho Bar! It’s super fun way to get all of your friends fed and mingling! It’s finger food, so it’s easy to eat/talk & totally tasty.
To help you get your shopping done, I created this Nacho Bar Checklist! Just save this image to your phone and pull it up at the grocery store so you don’t forget anything!
STEP FIVE: The Games
No party is complete without a few games. At my last Fiesta, I filled a giant piñata with candy and mini bottles of tequila.
You can make your own mini piñatas too! Check out the step by step tutorial here!
STEP SIX: Enjoy the party!
The most important thing is to have fun. Every party has a few glitches, but just enjoy it with your friends! Be sure to take lots of pictures! If you’re feeling extra crafty, set up a photo wall! You can do it outside or on a blank wall in your house! Pinterest has tons of fun ideas and how to’s. I recommend going the easy route and hanging a bunch of crepe paper! Add some fun decorations and call it a day!
